Ranu Vyas is a Histopathology Research Assistant in the ProCan team at Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI). She completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in India and then undertook Diploma certifications in Australia to enhance her medical knowledge.
At ProCan, she manages different collaborators and engagements related to specimen cohorts and data management of the laboratory information system known as LIMS. She works mainly on different categories of tissue samples, such as Fresh Frozen (FF) and Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) and creates thin sections (4-5 microns). These are then mount on various glass slides and stained as per the requirements of the projects. These slides need scanning and histopathological observation under the microscope. One of the essential aspects of the role is to provide the appropriate tissue section curls in tiny barocycler tubes for the Proteomics team to do protein analysis through mass spectrometry.
