Didi Surian is a data scientist in cancer research in ProCan at Children's Medical Research Institute. He received a PhD in Information Technology from the University of Sydney. Didi has over a decade of experience in machine learning, information retrieval, and data mining. Before he joined CMRI, he was a research fellow at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University. His research focused on data science and applied machine learning in public health informatics and clinical epidemiology. Prior to this, he was a research engineer in School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University.
He has co-authored more than 30 research articles in journals and conferences with >1.7k citations. Didi is passionate in extracting (frequent, infrequent/anomalous) patterns from big data, developing machine learning methods to solve real-world problems, and using science to extract useful and actionable knowledge.
