Aisling graduated with a B.Sc. in Genetics from University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland. In 2012, she was awarded a Hardiman Cancer Care West Scholarship to undertake a Ph.D. project at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) supervised by Prof. Corrado Santocanale. After completing her Ph.D. in 2016, Aisling continued her research in the Santocanale lab, until relocating to the Genome Integrity Unit in October 2017. At CMRI she started her post-doctoral research career pursuing her research interests in understanding the mechanisms involved in maintaining genome integrity in the presence of replication stress.
